Conspiracy Theory is the ninth episode of the fifth season. It was released on 5 December 2008.
The team descends into a whirl of madness as working with a conspiracy theorist to solve bombing case exposes each of their own peculiar beliefs. Meanwhile, a mysterious stranger saves an agent's life.
When Robin tells Don that she talked with his rabbi, she says, "I just want to make sure you don't end up on the roof with a fiddle." Rob Morrow has said his first big role was playing Tevye in a high school production of Fiddler on the Roof.
Near the end, Josh Gad's character is asked what he knows about the next year's Super Bowl. He says "Take the points, and the over". In the next Super Bowel after the show aired, Pittsburgh won 27-23, but was favored by 7. The over/under was 46. Both bets would have won.
Sinclair and Granger leave the roof top and return to the meeting room without disabling the remote rifle. This means the rifle will fire on anyone who happens to enter the area it's been programed to protect.
The end of the episode shows the Hollywood sign lit up. However the last time the sign was lit up was for New Year's Even in 1999, 8 years before this episode aired.
